Dr Tiago Gandra is a consultant psychiatrist with a psychodynamic orientation and specialist expertise in psychotherapy. He completed his training in General Adult Psychiatry at University College London (UCL) and in Medical Psychotherapy at the Tavistock Centre, where his focus was on psychodynamic and relational models of care. He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Psychotherapy Coordinator for the psychiatry training programme at the University of Otago.
Tiago is committed to providing thoughtful, in-depth psychiatric care that respects the complexity of each person’s inner life, history, and cultural background. He works with adults and young people, drawing on psychodynamic and relational approaches to support psychological change and emotional growth.
He has a special interest in trauma, affective disorders, and the integration of psychotherapeutic ideas within psychiatric care.
