Dr Andrea Chin

Andrea is passionate about helping people build resilience to live a meaningful life. She has gained experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in the community. She works using Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance-Commitment Therapy approaches but believes in tailoring the therapy plan based on one’s needs and circumstances.
Andrea was born and raised in Singapore but has called New Zealand home for the past decade. Being Singaporean Chinese, she understands the impact of cultural influences on mental health and the difficulties and joys that can come with living in different cultures.
She has special interests in anxiety and mood disorders as well as mental health among the LGBTQIA+ community and Asian ethnic minority groups. Her doctoral research was on the relationships among culture, resilience, mental health, and well-being.
